Social History

Medley Hall has received a grant from the University of Melbourne’s History of the University Unit. These funds will be used to construct a <social history> of the college, and we invite all former students and staff to become involved. In particular, we wish to collect material regarding the residential and academic life of the Medley Hall’s past inhabitants.

This project is entitled Medley Hall 1953-2008: A Social History of Benvenuta. Its aim is to provide a narrative regarding Medley Hall’s residential community, from the commencement of the University of Melbourne’s involvement with the Drummond Street site in 1953 until the present day. We strongly encourage you to participate, and look forward to hearing from you!

Alumni Program

Medley Hall will be closed for renovations in 2009, and is scheduled to re-open in 2010. We will be using this interim period to complete our social history and in doing so, to create a more formal Alumni Program.

We would also like to develop a ‘mentor bank’ so that we can link students with people experienced in their fields.

Donations

Medley Hall is grateful to receive donations both from Alumni and those with an interest in the life of the College or in preserving Benvenuta.

Donations may be made for bursaries and scholarships, building maintenance, updating equipment and improving facilities for current and future students. Contributions from Medley benefactors also support the scholarship program.

All donations to Medley Hall are tax deductible.
