Formal dinners

Our candle-lit Formal Dinner each Wednesday evening during semester begins with a performance by a talented Medley Hall musician or singer. Often there will be a guest speaker to address the college and engage in spirited discussion. This is a very good opportunity to meet and talk informally with people who are leaders in their fields.

Medley has three special formal College dinners each year: Commencement Dinner begins each semester, the International Students farewell Dinner is held at the end of Semester One and the Valedictory Dinner farewells graduates leaving at the end of the year.

Unlike other colleges, academic gowns are not worn to dinner at Medley.

Outings and film nights

Experience the cultural riches of Melbourne and broaden your intellectual horizons at the same time. Our Resident Tutors take small groups of students to the theatre, concerts, opera, and art exhibitions. We also run film nights in the Common Room.

Medley Hall’s resident tutors are open to suggestions from students about how the cultural program should evolve.
