Scholarships and bursaries

Medley Hall Scholarship and Bursary Application information 2008

Medley Hall offers bursaries and scholarships to eligible students experiencing financial hardship. It is our aim to make residence at Medley Hall available to students who have been accepted into their course at the University of Melbourne and who would otherwise be unable to experience benefits of living in an academic community.

The criteria for scholarships include financial need, academic merit and a demonstrated potential to contribute to our sustainable learning community.

Medley Hall offers

  • generous entrance scholarships
  • means-tested bursary support for students, both new and continuing
  • prizes, in the form of academic book vouchers, for sustained academic achievement of a high calibre.

Scholarships in 2008 will, in most cases, be in the form of a remission of fees. They will be awarded

  • for academic merit
  • for academic merit and a demonstrated contribution to social and environmental sustainability
  • to indigenous students
  • to students from a refugee or asylum seeker background
  • to first year female students from rural Victoria who are in financial need. This scholarship is funded by the Invergowrie Foundation to the value of $5000.

Bursary Assistance

In addition to the remission of fees provided by the scholarship, or in circumstances of demonstrated financial need, new or continuing residents at Medley Hall may also apply for bursary assistance. Medley Hall co-operates closely with the University’s Financial Aid and Student Housing services, the Centre for Indigenous Education and the Disability Liaison Unit. Students are encouraged to make a detailed personal budget and to acquaint themselves with the full range of services available through the University.
